Search engine giant Google recently launched new AI (Artificial Intelligence) features for its video editing tools in the Photos app. With these features, users can conveniently edit their videos in a snap.
One of the features is the trim tool, which allows trimming videos with improved controls. Another feature is the Auto Enhance button, which enables users to boost the colours of videos and stabilise them with just one tap. There is a new ‘New Speed Tool’ to convert any normal video into slow motion. The best upgrade is the AI-powered video preset. It adjusts lighting, controls speed, and trims videos in an instant.
The new features will roll out with the upcoming updates to the photos app on Android and iOSsmartphones next week. Google also talked about a new feature that will detect fake and real photos in search results. At the current time, it has become difficult to differentiate between real and synthetic content, which aids cybercriminals to run malicious campaigns.
Google has collaborated with the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) and introduced new technology to prevent such things. This technology will explain whether a photo was taken by the camera, generated using generative AI, or edited by software.
Google Photos has been steadily adding new features for a long time. However, it still lacks advanced video editing features. Due to this, users moved to third-party apps like TikTok and Instagram to enhance their videos. However, as new features are coming, the Google Photos app is now likely to compete head-on with them.
