The digital payments experienced massive disruption on Wednesday. Multiple platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm were not working, which caused users to have problems transferring funds.
Along with Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the State Bank of India has also seen problems in digital payment services. Most customers faced difficulties with fund transfers and online banking services.
While addressing the issue, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) stated, “NPCI experienced intermittent technical issues, leading to partial UPI disruptions. The problem has now been resolved, and the system has stabilised. We regret the inconvenience.”
People filed complaints about the UPI description; by the evening, a total of 2,750 complaints had been recorded, out of which 296 reports were from GooglePay users while 119 were related to Paytm.
The major transaction failure began surfacing in the afternoon. Users experienced delays, payment declines and errors while attempting to complete transactions.
