The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has published specifications for Bluetooth that can be a game changer. With the latest update of Bluetooth, the SIG has addressed various user issues and has focused on providing enhanced features with it.Â
The introduction of a new feature called channel sounding in Bluetooth 6.0 allows a compatible smartphone or accessory that provides an improved low-powered network for wireless devices. Without compromising the security issue, Bluetooth-equipped devices can now accurately determine the presence, distance, and direction of another Bluetooth 6.0-powered device. This improved version can lead to the creation of new-age tracking devices, such as the AirTag. It will allow the phone or accessories makers to easily identify and track a linked device. Additionally, Bluetooth 6.0 can also monitor and filter out duplicate data to improve efficiency. These features will help the developers to improve the user interface and experience.Â
The latest Frame Space Update on Bluetooth 6.0 will help improve the throughput between different devices, which will be helpful while upgrading the firmware of earbuds and fitness trackers. This update will wholly work on Bluetooth networking. As per the official listing, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is one of the first smartphone chips to support the latest Bluetooth 6.0. However, some recently updated phones, like the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13, will be limited to the previous version of Bluetooth 5.4. The upcoming smartphone with the same chip is likely to support Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity. According to the report, the iPhone 16 series is currently limited to Bluetooth 5.3 updates, and with the upcoming iPhone 17 series, Apple is likely to jump directly to Bluetooth 6.0 update.
