Top Foldable Phones In 2024: Bleeding Edge Technology

Foldable phones have gained traction in the last few years, all thanks to revolutionary mobile design by companies like Samsung and Oppo. However, ever since tech giants like Samsung came out with their foldable phones, more and more companies are looking to capitalise on the market by making competitive foldable phones. In this blog, we will have a look at the best foldable phones available on the market today. So, without any further ado, let’s get started.

Best Foldable Phones Available On The Market

Before starting the list, we should tell you that this list is based on the recent reception of the phones by the public and pundits alike. The foldable phones listed here are not ranked in any particular order, and the best foldable phone for you depends on your usage, the style you like and brand preferences.

1. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

Despite problems with its initial launch and design, Z Fold 5 is widely considered the pioneer of the foldable phones category. Boasting a 7.6-inch foldable dynamic AMOLED and a 6.2-inch outer display, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 also features all the flagship features you get on other phones. So, it’s not just a foldable phone but a super unique, robust and practical foldable device. It has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, a 4400 mAh battery, a triple camera setup, an Adreno 740 GPU and a screen that goes up to 1750 nits brightness. The Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 starts at Rs. 1,54,999 for the 256 GB variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 1,84,999 for the 1 TB variant.

2. Google Pixel Fold

This is one of the latest foldable phones on the market today and is made by a tech giant itself, Google. Although the phone boasts the same hardware capabilities as their latest flagship Pixel 8 Pro, the main selling points for this phone are its intelligence and price range. The phone comes with a 5.8-inch outer display, which is not as small as you would think. Because the Google Pixel Fold is made on a much wider form factor, the 5.8-inch screen is much more usable than Samsung’s 6.2-inch AMOLED. This phone also comes with a 7.6-inch foldable screen and a triple camera setup. However, just like their normal pixel devices, this phone also uses Google’s Tensor G2 chips, which are made on a 5nm structure. The phone also has a 4800 mAh battery that keeps it usable for a full day with ease. The pixel Fold starts at Rs. 1,57,999 and goes up to Rs. 1,59,999.

3. OnePlus Open

Just when people thought that Samsung and Google had made the best foldable phones, OnePlus came out with a banger. The all-new OnePlus Open is a more affordable and, at times, better alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. It features all the bells and whistles of a flagship, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and Adreno 740 GPU, along with a triple camera setup with Hasselblad colour calibration. However, there are a few areas where the OnePlus Open outshines the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. For instance, the Open has a brighter and bigger display than Samsung at 7.82-inch. It’s also thinner and lighter than the Fold 5 while packing a bigger 4805 mAh battery. When it comes to the camera, the Open perform almost the same as Fold 5, if not better. However, Pixel Fold still manages to beat both devices in picture quality. OnePlus Open comes in a single 512 GB variant, which is priced at around Rs. 1,39,999. This makes it the cheapest foldable phone out of any other flagship foldable. Also, you can exchange your old phone and get an additional Rs. 15,000 discount.

4. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

This phone comes under the segment of ‘compact foldable phones’, mainly because this phone comes in the same form factor as any other flagship phone but folds from the middle and comes out a very small, fully functional, flagship-level smartphone. When unfolded, the screen registers at 6.7-inch, and when folded, the screen size gets down to 3.4-inch. This makes this phone very practical. You can use it like a traditional mobile phone with the liberty to fold it if you want to. The best part about this phone is that once it has been folded, you get a 3.4-inch screen, where you can perform all of your tasks. The apps on the phone are optimised so that they can be fully used from the smaller screen on the outside. The phone comes with a dual-camera system and a 3700 mAh battery, which is more than enough to get you through your day. The phone starts at Rs. 99,999 for the 256 GB variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 1,09,999 for the 512 GB variant.

5. Motorola Razr 40 Ultra

A direct competitor of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra only lacks a few things, but what it lacks in hardware, it more than makes up with its software and customisable options. The phone comes in 3 colours, and vegan leather is available at the back. Moreover, it has a 165 Hz refresh rate as compared to 120 Hz in the Z Flip 5. Also, the phone’s UI is very similar to stock Android, making it a joy to use. It also features bigger outer and inner screens at 3.6 and 6.9 inches, respectively. The only caveat is its performance when compared to other flagships like Z Flip 5. The Samsung comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Adreno 740 GPU, whereas the Motorola comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Adreno 730 GPU. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is the most affordable foldable phone out of the bunch, it offers one variant, which is priced at Rs. 69,999.
