Vivo V30 Pro Review: The Zeiss Camera Wins The Battle

The Vivo V series has been a game-changer for the brand since it released its first V series smartphone, Vivo V1, in 2015. The Vivo V 29 Pro, launched last year, received good user feedback regarding build quality and performance. Continuing the series, Vivo launched its smartphone, the Vivo V30 Pro, on 7th March, 2024.  The smartphone has made some major advancements, especially regarding the camera, which we will further discuss in this Vivo V30 Pro review and help you decide whether it’s worth your investment or not.

Vivo V30 Pro Review: Design and Display

Vivo is known for launching slim smartphones, and Vivo V30 is no exception. The smartphone features a curved glossy glass panel that quickly attracts fingerprints when held from the back. However, the black version of the smartphone comes with a Sandstone matte finish, making the phone a bit slippery. Overall, there is not much difference in design compared to its predecessors.

Vivo V30 has a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2800×1260 pixels. The smartphone’s refresh rate is 120Hz and can reach a peak brightness of 2800 nits. The display quality is premium, with sharp visuals, deep blacks and vibrant colours. Moreover, it also supports HDR playback, so you never face any issues while watching videos or your favourite TV shows. However, the smartphone only comes with a single speaker setup, which is considered a drawback, considering its price and the competition.

Overall Ratings: 3.5/ 5

Vivo V30 Pro Review: Camera

Honestly, the smartphone is all about the camera for all the right reasons. It has three rare 50 MP cameras on the back and one 50MP selfie camera. It includes a primary 50MP camera with f/1.9 aperture, a 50MP telephoto camera with f/1.9 aperture and 2X optical zoom, a 50 MP, f/2.0 ultra-wide camera, and a 50 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Also, the phone camera uses a Zeiss lens. With this triple-camera Zeiss lens setup, Vivo promises to offer new portrait features called Zeiss Style Bokeh, which is usually found in high-end camera lenses.

Talking about quality, the smartphone provides impressive daylight shots with ample details and vibrant colours. The HDR shots are also good, with no unnecessary oversaturation, making it a perfect choice for capturing day shots with almost zero shutter lag. The 4x zoom also provides a softer image despite having the same resolution.

The camera’s main highlight is its Zeiss-style bokeh for portrait photography, which includes several modes, such as ZEISS Biotar Style Bokeh, ZEISS Distagon Style Bokeh, ZEISS Cine Flare, and many more. Moreover, the phone can record 4 K video at 60FPS, which is very similar to the quality of the photos.

Overall Rating: 4.5 /5

Vivo V30 Pro Review: Software and Performance

Talking about the software, Vivo V30 Pro runs on Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14 which brings smoothness to the overall usage of the smartphone. Out of 12 GB of total RAM, 11.16GB is usable, and 5GB is free when default apps run in the background. The Antutu score of Vivo V30 Pro is 9,58,187, which is better than its predecessors, but if we compare it with its competitors, such as the OnePlus 12R, the smartphone falls short in overall performance. One Plus 12R boasts an Antutu score of 1,34,31,65.

As per the Vivo V30 Pro review, the smartphone gaming experience is quite satisfactory. You can play games such as Asphalt 9 and Call of Duty without any lag. However, if you change the setting to Very High graphics quality and maximum frame rate, the phone starts lagging, which is normal for any smartphone. Despite extended gaming sessions, the smartphone maintains a reasonable temperature without getting too hot.

Overall Rating: 3.5 / 5

Vivo V30 Pro Battery Review

The smartphone’s battery is 5000mAh, and it has 80W fast charging. For normal usage, the phone can easily last for 18-20 hours or more. With an 80W flash charger, Vivo promises a full charge in just 46 minutes. The battery is normal, as seen in most smartphones today.

Overall Rating: 3.5 / 5

Vivo V30 Pro Price

Vivo V30 Pro Review: Is it Worth Buying?

The introduction of Zeiss Bokeh mode is the main highlight of this smartphone, which makes it one of the best phones for capturing portraits and day-light photos. Overall, there is no notable improvement compared to its previous model in the same series. Considering its price, the phone misses out on some key features, such as battery life and especially AI features, which manufacturers are mostly focusing on. However, if you are into photography, this phone has much to offer. Rest assured, it depends on your choice and the requirements you are looking for in a smartphone.
