Jio To Launch 5G Networks

The wait is almost over, and finally, Reliance Jio is all set to launch 5G networks in India. The company has planned to introduce the 5G spectrum in key metropolitan cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bangalore.

Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd., speaks via live streaming during the annual meeting in Mumbai on Monday, 29 Aug. He also informed that Reliance Jio would invest $2  trillion ($25 billion) for 5G networks in October across the key cities in India.

In addition, Mukesh Ambani said that 5G or fifth generation wireless telecom service would be the fastest network in the country. If Reliance achieves the target, it will be the first telco to achieve pan-India coverage, beating rival Bharti Airtel, which will launch 5G services in 5,ooo cities and towns by March 2024.

“Within the next two months, by Diwali, we will launch Jio 5G across multiple key cities, including the metropolises of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. By December 2023, less than 18 months from today, we will deliver Jio 5G to every town, every taluka, and every tehsil of our country,” Ambani told shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting.

“With Jio 5G, we will connect everyone, every place, and everything with the highest quality and most affordable data. In addition to meeting India’s needs, we are confident of offering digital solutions to global markets,” Ambani said.
