London based company, Nothing, confirmed on 10 May 2022 that its first smartphone is available on Flipkart in India. For Nothing, O2 will be the network partner and Telekom Deutschland will be the exclusive operator in the UK and Germany. The company’s first smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon.Â
It is the first smartphone of the company and the second device after true wireless earbuds in the product ecosystem.Â
Vice President and general manager of Nothing India, Manu Sharma, said that ‘from selling out in under two minutes during our Flipkart sale to breaking into the top three brands in the premium wireless earbud segment in our debut quarter, we have demonstrated that India is excited about new consumer tech brand to emerge from the stagnant industry.’
Ajay Veer Yadav Senior Vice President of Flipkart India said ‘As a consumer-centric platform we always bring new innovative products and brands that fulfil ever-evolving customer aspirations. ’
In 2021, Nothing announced it would come back to India and now the company is backed by Google venture, EQT Venture, C Venture and other private investors such as Tony Fadel and Steff Huffman.Â
Carl Pie, CEO and co-founder of Nothing said that ‘joining forces with leading telcos and retailers, we look forward to shaking up the smartphone market together.’
Nothing announced that its beta launcher operating system is available for all devices with Android 11 or above versions. After all, Nothing wants to become the most compelling alternative to Apple.
